• Magic: The Gathering

  Magic: The Gathering is a collectible card game created by Richard Garfield and introduced in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, an American game publisher later purchased by Hasbro. Magic is the first example of the modern collectible card game genre and still thrives today, with an estimated six million players in over seventy countries. Magic can be played by two or more players each using a deck of printed cards or through the internet-based Magic: The Gathering Online on a computer.

  The world-wide popularity of Magic has spawned an organized tournament system and a community of professional Magic players, as well as a secondary market for Magic cards. Magic cards can be valuable due to not only their scarcity, but also their utility in game play and the aesthetic qualities of their artwork.

  Magic the Gathering demo: Card demo by the staff of MindSlavers will be held on the first day of this event. Members of the public are free to observe this game, try out the demo card game (sample decks will be provided) or join the KK Magic community for future magic tournaments and gathering!

  Magic the Gathering Competition: MindSlavers will be hosting a Magic competition on this event with challengers coming all the way from around Malaysia for the winning prize of RM1000. Come check out this rare card game competition!

• Warhammer 40k

  Warhammer is a table top strategy game where two (2) players have an army of miniatures that will face each other in the battlefield.

  Warhammer Fantasy: is the medieval / fantasy version of the warhammer series and has strong ties to LOTR theme, but is its own world in every right. Here, one can see the forces of orcs vs the races of men, elves & dwarves. Here lies many dangerous races, from the demonic Chaos beastmen to their cousin the Chaos Undivided (Warrior Knights & demons), to the undead horde and mutant skaven rat-men. This is a great fantasy battlefield like no other.

  Warhammer 40K: the futuristic verion of the warhammer world. Here the humans (called the Imperial Guards) must fight with the legions of Chaos Marines and the green horde of Space OrKs. Humantities survival rest upon the Imperials strongest soldiers. The Space Marines, geneticly engineered to great fighting capabilities, these super soldiers are what stands between total extinction of the imperial world and survival. Yet in the other parts of the galaxy, are the enigmatic races of the Eldar, the mysterious Necrons, advance Tao & malicious Dark eldar. In the world of 40K: there is no peace, only war.

  Warhammer 40k Table-top game demo: There will be a miniature war game called the Warhammer 40k. This game feature a long war table, filled with terrains, nicely sculptured miniatures that are HAND PAINTED by the gamers themselves. The public will get a glimpse of this game otherwise unknown to many. We are still trying to get more staff to help set up a demo table for that day to allow the public to try out this exciting war game!

• Board Games

  Board Games demo: MindSlavers will set up some board games on that day. These board games range from common games like Monopoly and Chess, to more uncommon board games like Axis & Allies. Public are welcome to observe and if you are interested in any particular boardgame could set join the members of MindSlavers for a game or for more detailed demo at MindSlavers.

Computer Gaming

Computer gaming: IT Station will set up a table and showcase some of the original games available. Place your order on your most wanted computer games, purchase computer accessories or MMORPG cards from them. Game on!

Cosplaying

Kota Kinabalu Cosplay Club (KKCC) just as the name is a cosplay club. Cosplaying is a Japanese fashion statement dressing up as favourite anime / manga characters. This club's main objective is to bring together people here in Kota Kinabalu, who are interested in this Japan's popular pop culture. This club also offers a place for those who are interested in japanese fashion trends such as Gothic/Punk/Sweet Lolita,Visual Kei etc. Not only that,there would be dicussions on general topics such as anime, manga and games.

Kota Kinabalu Cosplay Club (KKCC): The KKCC will be present that day to add to the exciting atmosphere of Hobbycon.The KKCC will also be displaying certain Lolita costumes and members of the public are encouraged to ask more, maybe take some pictures as remembrance or even better, join the KKCC club for future photo session and sharing on this unique fashion trend.

Dance Performances

Dance performances by KKCC: The Kota Kinabalu Cosplay Club (KKCC) will be dancing to a song or 2 that day. Famous anime songs from Paradise Kiss “Your so Lucky!” to other famous dances like “Haruhi” from A Melancholy of Suzumiya. There would be other dance performances by other group (T.B.A). Come see this and dance along!

Live Blogging

Live Blogging at Kopicat: If you are a blogger and would like to cover this event, we would like to let you know that we have save a space with kopicat on the 2nd floor. There, you can have a sip of a drink and use their wifi facility to write about your experiences on this event. We hope to secure a laptop for bloggers and maybe a video cam for you to record this event.

Manga

Manga Club Gathering and selling: There will be a Manga (Japanese comic) sales by our own KK Manga Club (known as the Team Day Dreamers). The group will be present that day to sell their own manga. Come support KK manga! We will also be selling other mangas from Gempak.

Mnu Illustrative Content iV (2006) is also available for selling. MnU was conceived about 5 years ago by a group of animation artists in a small studio in Kelana Jaya who started out small and young,but with much more to offer. The artists themselves had no idea where each of their footsteps will take them, neither do they want to lose out on that special relationship they have all shared during their collaborative works on the tv series there. So the idea of coming up with an coopeerative art book project came into play. If you are a fan of Mnu artwork, you could pre-order the next book on this day.

Public are welcome to join the manga club, the club will contact you for any future Artjam (a comic sharing, social + workshop). Come see some of our own local talent and help support!

PSP and NDS Zone

PSP and NDS zone: If you are a PSP or NDS owner, we would like to invite you to come over and join us for free gaming sessions. A table area will be ready on that day itself and some of our members will be there hoping to have some of the public join us for a group game. Monster Hunter anyone?
